This coffee cup and saucer is made of thin-walled bone china at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg. It pairs the May shape with the Cobalt Net pattern, applied as an overglaze decal and finished with gold painting. The cup has a smooth glazed rim.
The cup holds 165 ml (measured to the brim; the usable volume is roughly 10–15% less) and is 8 cm long, 6.8 cm wide and 7.7 cm high. The saucer is 12.1 cm in diameter and 2 cm high. Bone china has a milky tone, and colors may vary from screen to screen.
Shape by Eduard Krimmer (1900–1974), an Honored Artist of the RSFSR, whose May cup was the first shape to be cast in bone china. Pattern by Anna Yatskevich (1904–1952), whose Cobalt Net tea service earned a gold medal at the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair.
Wash by hand with a liquid detergent and a soft sponge to keep the gold intact. Not dishwasher safe and not for microwave use.
