Made at the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg from classic hard-paste porcelain, this teacup and saucer sets the Golden Garden pattern on the Tulip shape. Underglaze decal is combined with gold painting, and the cup has a smooth, polished rim left unglazed. The design first went on sale in 1972.
The cup holds 250 ml, measured to the brim (the usable volume may be 10–15% less), and is 12.2 cm long, 10.3 cm wide and 5.8 cm high. The saucer is 15 cm in diameter and 2.7 cm high. Hard-paste porcelain has a slightly grayish tone, and colors may look different on screen.
Pattern by Nina Slavina (1928–2000), Academician of the USSR Academy of Arts, who worked at the factory from 1954 to 2000 and served as its chief artist from 1978 to 1985. Shape by Serafima Yakovleva (1910–1993), who created about 40 tableware set shapes at the factory, the Tulip among them, designed in 1936.
Wash by hand with a liquid detergent and a soft sponge to protect the gold. Not dishwasher safe; not for the microwave.
