This teacup and saucer from the Imperial Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg is made of thin-walled bone china. Here the Cobalt Net pattern is set on the Julia shape as an overglaze decal with gold painting, and the cup has a smooth glazed rim.
The cup holds 210 ml, measured to the brim (usable volume may be 10–15% less), and stands 7.5 cm high; the saucer is 16.4 cm in diameter. The piece first went on sale in 2018. Bone china has a milky tone that may look brighter or paler on screen.
Shape by Mikhail Sorokin (born 1950), a sculptor and porcelain painter at the factory since 1985, who created the Julia shape in 2004. The original Cobalt Net design by Anna Yatskevich (1904–1952) was adapted for this shape by factory artist Galina Shulyak.
To protect the gold, wash by hand with a liquid detergent and a soft sponge; in a dishwasher the gilding may dull or wear over time. Not for use in the microwave.
