A full-size teacup and saucer on the Idyll shape, the thin-walled bone-china form the factory uses for its Azure, Scarlet and Kalenda series.
Kalenda is Yulia Chistyakova’s winter pattern for the Imperial Porcelain Factory. She built it around the Advent wreath and looked back at the wreath compositions of Fyodor Krasovsky, one of the factory’s leading painters of the 19th century. The needles of the wreath echo the Azure series, the scarlet ribbons echo Scarlet, so Kalenda sits easily next to both on one table.
The design is applied with raised paint: the berries and ribbons stand slightly proud of the glaze and catch the light.
