Since the founding of the Imperial Porcelain Factory (known as the Nevskaya Porcelain Manufactory in 1744), artisans have marked their products with special marks. Factory marks have come a long way from handwritten images of the ruler’s coat of arms or monogram to standard stamps. Even today, the factory mark remains the manufacturer’s distinctive mark, a sign of authenticity and high quality.
The tea set is part of the “Logo” porcelain line. It is decorated with images of marks and symbols that were placed on items made at the IPF from the beginning of production in the mid-18th century to the present day. In addition to tea sets with two decorative options, the line also includes porcelain keychains.
The set is made on a “Crest” mold, reminiscent of the factory’s historical collections. The mold itself was restored based on a sample from the 1860s-1880s in the State Hermitage Museum collection.
